ATTRACTIONS

Malacca (dubbed The Historic State or Negeri Bersejarah among locals) is the third smallest Malaysian state, after Perlis and Penang. It is located in the southern region of the Peninsular Malaysia, on the Straits of Malacca. This historical city centre has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 7 July 2008.
The state of Malacca covers an area of 1,664 km2 (642 sq mi). The state is divided into 3 districts: Central Malacca (Melaka Tengah) (314 km²), Alor Gajah (660 km²), and Jasin (676 km²).

Our recent trips, organized by Bumitra and the Malacca State Tourism, to Jasin/Merlimau includes the following Attractions & Landmarks;

We stayed at Hotel Alamanda is located 20 minutes drive from Ayer Keroh, Melaka and it is situated next to the Jasin Stadium. The facilities includes:

Our next visit is the Laman Tiga Budaya in Asahan, Jasin. It is located about 30 minutes drive from Jasin. The Laman Tiga Budaya is associated with Three Cultures herefore it was built within the State borders of Malacca, Negeri Sembilan and Johore. The complex has a changing rooms and showers, water theme park for day use, theme parties, family day and students outing. The location site sits next to the ‘Gunung Ledang’ or Ledang Mountain range, forests, fruit farms, flora  and fauna surrounding it.

 

 

Hutan Simpan Asahan or Asahan Forest Reserve is located next to the MSN sports training center. Here, our Cikgu (Teacher) taught us about Jungle Survival. We were shown various animal trap contraption and cooking techniques during emergency situations. We learn which jungle fruits that we can eat and how to built temporary shelter while waiting for being rescued. It is a very informative trip and this is a must visit.

 

Kolam Air Panas Bemban or Bemban Hot Spring is located in Jasin. It takes about 20 minutes drive from Air Keroh Toll Plaza. The hot springs has therapeutic benefits as it has Calcium Sulfate to Increase the Body’s blood flow and promote body toxin discretion through sweating. The Hot Springs has various water temparature ranging from 39°C up to It also has a enclosed bathing rooms for women for extra privacy and full body wash. It is a good therapy before continuing your jopurney.

 

Homestay Parit Penghulu is one of the products that are becoming popular with the locals and foreigners. They have a kampung style homes of various designs and within the community; they also have a cottage industries for the tourist to view.

 

 

 

 

Sungai Rambai, River Cruise is located in Merlimau. The cruise along Sungai Rambai will showcase a lush tropical greenery and rich diversity of habitats. It is home to some of Melaka’s wild flora and fauna such as mud crabs, monkeys, birds, beavers and many amphibian and reptile species coexist in the Mangrove ecosystem.

 

 

 

 

We were brought to the Mama Food Industry in Umbai for a glimpse of the varieties of the local and traditional snacks and pastries. The most notable traditional delicacy is the Dodol. It is made from palm sugar, sugar and glutinous rice flour or rice flour that is cook under the right heat and to be stirred continuously for at least 8 hours till it thickens. It comes with a variety of colours and flavour such as Coconut and Durian. 

 

 

 

In the history of Melaka, Tun Teja is known for her tragic love story.
She is the daughter of palce official Sri Amar Di Raja of Inderapura (now Pahang) who was admired by many during her time, including the Sultan of Melaka. However, whenthe Sultan asked for her hand, it was turned down by her family as she was supposed to be engaged to someone else. Later, she was duped into marrying the Sultan by Hang Tuah, a Melakan warrior. She died a queen, in Merlimau, about 24km from Melaka City, while retreating with other members of the Melaka royal family from Portuguese attack in 1511. Rumah Tradisional Melaka (Merlimau) -Rumah Demang Abdul Ghani.
The house is more than 100 years old. It was built in 1894 and renovated in 1915. It is located about 22km from the Malacca city center It is located by the roadside and easily accessible by car. The original owner is  Demang AbdGhani, he is the known as the British representative for the development of the area. The house was built during his tenure as the British Representative it still belongs to his family.

 

 

Perkampungan Orang Asli Lubuk Bandung – Original People or Indigenous People living in the local Jasin area. The community has been upgraded and adopted the modern life style. They run their own land and some of them worked in the government and private sectors.
